Plan for the bike shed সাইকেল স্টোরেজ

A photo of the plan for a new bike shed (seen at the hall meeting, last year) will be posted soon, below.  It has bars so that the bikes can be seen easily and the roof has greenery/planting/grass growing on it.  Currently, there was not any plan for a lock on the new bike store.


Initially there was an idea to take away half of the current bike shed.  It has been suggested for it to be taken away by a number of residents for a few reasons.  The current bike shed is not easily cleaned.  Also, there are concerns about it being used (for drug taking, which has happened recently), or about bikes being stolen from it.





There is now a sign on the current bike shed asking, for example, for bikes wanted to be taken out by a certain date (there are quite a few of abandoned bikes in there eg where keys got lost and the bikes stopped being used.)

One possibility is to lock the bike shed, as is the case now, and have a nice bike stand for passers through eg:



There are people who use the bike shed a lot, who will have more idea about potential problems (eg of bikes being stranded and rubbish and debris accumulating in the shed) and solutions, as well as the other concerns mentioned.

One nearby resident thinks the current bike frame should be kept (or half of it), and covered with growing ivy on the curved area.

Another resident said that the frame of the current bike shed could be kept, and the plastic can be removed.

One resident, did not like the bike shed, and wondered if the bike shed is used at all for sheltering bikes.

It was thought the bike shed is arriving in June, but it could be earlier - from the Council’s flyer today - also there are no bars on the bike shed shown. (See next post)
